Getting There
12 kilometers from the Nairobi – Nakuru highway (8kms from Delamere Petrol Station in Naivasha), the lodge is just a one-and-a-half hours drive from Nairobi – or a 30-minute flight to a nearby all-weather airstrip. Its location is midway between Samburu and the Maasai Mara making this the perfect stopover between the country’s wildest game reserves – and an ideal alternative to a night in a city hotel.

For guests staying in the lodge rooms as well as the Longonot Villas, the board basis is usually the entire board, which includes three delicious meals and accommodation. For guests taking the chalets, the board is either on self-catering or in the lodge’s restaurant (meals charged per consumption). It’s 220/240 v 50hz. The plugs are 3-point squares Those coming from North America with IIOv/60hz appliances should be sure to use an appropriate transformer. The national electricity grid services the lodge, with reliable backup from generators, hence power is on 24 hours. It is possible to recharge your electrical appliances, including video camera batteries, laptops, tablets, cell phones, etc in your room, as well as use appliances like hair dryers. Our hotels have a camp doctor and nurse on duty but in case of specialized treatment, evacuation has to be arranged.

Malaria

This is a disease spread by female anopheles mosquitoes that bite mainly at dusk and night. Every traveler to Africa should consult with their doctor before arriving. We provide mosquito nets for night protection and repellants for use during the day.

Banks

Most banks are open from 09:00 to 16.00 from Monday to Friday and half a day on Saturdays except at the airport where the services are available 24 hrs. Banks with branches in major shopping malls open longer.

Currency
The official currency of the Republic of Kenya is the Kenya Shilling (Ksh). Major currencies like the US Dollar, British pound, and Euro are accepted (enquire at the hotel for daily exchange rates). However, US Dollar bills printed between 1996 and 1999 are generally not accepted in Kenya due to excessive forgery.

Credit Cards: Major credit cards are accepted in most hotels and restaurants in the city.

Communication: Landlines are available, with average good cell phone reception for GSM phones, which is good in most parts of the lodge. Enquire at the Reception for email or internet services

The Great Rift Valley Lodge offers 21 twin and 9 double rooms, all with private balconies overlooking the spectacular expanse of the Rift Valley. The rooms are located in spacious two- and three-story blocks and are beautifully furnished with large four-poster beds, handmade wooden furniture, and modern en suite bathrooms. Several of the rooms have interlinking doors that convert them into spacious family suites. Alternative accommodation is available in the Longonot Villas, 40 modern three-tier three-bedroomed houses – a home away from home, a designer’s delight complete with every modern amenity to make the traveler feel right at home.

The living room, dining room, and kitchen take up the entire floor with the master bedroom on the top tier. The ground floor with the two bedrooms opens to the garden with every floor giving an unforgettable view of the mountain and the lake. Lastly, there is a series of homely private chalets overlooking the golf course, with two, three, or four bedrooms, all modern amenities, and the same magnificent views throughout.
